Puerto Morelos Newsletter Update April 6th, 2012 Help needed

To be right up front and honest this blog is a begging letter to help with Maria and her family living in a squat in the Pescadores, part of Puerto Morelos. They have to leave their 'shack' with no sanitation in 10 days!! and we have had to stop work on the new place! Over the last three months we have constructed a basic shell for the new shack for Maria and her five children (see below) , foundations, concrete floor, septic system and roof on land kindly donated by David Sanchez.
NOW we have used up too much of our general fund (close to 50,000 pesos) from the charity so we are asking you please to send what you can so we can finish the walls, bathroom, doors and windows. If you care to, you can DONATE NOW.

If you are in town and have any doors, mosquito netting, bathroom fittings you do not need, please send them our way. If you are out of town the odd dollar or two would be really helpful right now...

The family seen here with Wally and Theresa Koslowski who, like angels, recently came and took the family on a shopping expedition to Cancun where they bought food and clothes for the whole family. They also bought a new wheel chair for Mari, which she will need to grow into. They also donated the funds needed to buy one set of bunk beds for the children and lots more food. MORE CHARITY NEWS : CAUSE 4 PAWS
Diane Curtis' recent retirement opened her path to finally be able to formalise her charity for pets and next weekend she is holding a garage sale to raise funds and awareness for the Pets of PM . Many people have donated goods for the garage sale so there will be something for everyone. Come along! Saturday and Sunday  14 and 15 April from 9 - 2 pm both days. NEW YORK CULINARY AWARDS
Yes I am back and did not win but still thrilled to be nominated - thank you all for your wonderful support, it was really moving. Great promotion for Puerto Morelos too.
