Fishing Tournament June 1-3

Marlin Magazine has ranked Mexico's Yucatan peninsula one of its Top 20 Billfishing Destinations, both for the light tackle fishing and the variety of species. For this reason hundreds of fishermen converge on the Yucatan each spring. This year Puerto Morelos is host to the Annual Fishing Tournament June 1st to the 3rd and a local tournament the previous weekend. As always there are several private homes, rooms, and apartments available for rent so that you, your family and your friends can visit us and enjoy the wonderful beauty of the Mayan Riviera and enjoy the Tournament parties.

Sailfish, white and blue marlin, slammer dolphins, blackfin, skipjack, yellowfin tuna, kingfish and wahoo are abundant in nearby waters. Atlantic sailfish migrate from late March to June or July. White marlin in May. June for blue marlin. Dorado (mahi mahi), snapper, tuna, kingfish and wahoo can be caught year round. Non migratory sailfish live close by throughout the year. Occasionally we see broadbill swordfish or spearfish. If you would like to book a fishing charter have a look at Diving Dog Tours.
