Que Paso? May 1

Good Afternoon everyone

Quiet, the word is too small. No-one on the beach, you recognise your own footprints from the day before, the nights have a deep silence, restaurants are dotted with locals who have the look of "well I'm out and now....", a lone hammer beating in the midday heat, the call of the mandarina man, summer in PM. The flowers came out on the Moon cactus last night.

BARAKA BEACH CLUB PARTY
Baraka now has a bar on the beach and chairs and sun lounges. Very relaxed and runs 10.30 am-5.30 pm, drinks very reasonably priced (beers 20p) and great burgers (60p) . Marcella tending bar and mixing a mean margarita with her normal , cheeky charm. This Saturday she is throwing a beach party in the afternoon from 1pm -why not! All invited. Pics below

TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL
Formally opened the new laboratory we all contributed to installing, thank you again, pics below

KINDERGARTEN IN THE PORT
Day of the Children celebrated with a little picnic and prizes for the best artwork from recycled materials (the miniature dining room setting in the picture is made from rolled varnished newspaper. There is a pic of the new beach ramp installed with the assistance of the Dancers for Peace - thanks to the dancers and Sandra for co-ordinating.

TERAZA RESTAURANT REVIEW
The new mostly vegetarian restaurant is open 1pm-10pm and is above El PIrata and next to fishermen's co-op. It is a delightful little nook. Although we arrived lateish (8.30pm) they welcomed us and guided us to the breeziest table where we could have a view of the square. The menu is well designed , easy to read with a variety of foods including baguettes, pastas, mini pizzas and fresh squeezed juices and beer and wine. About 85% vegetarian. We tasted the Rivitaliser (36p) and Micheladas (served in large beer mugs with salt on the rim) I had the Angels Delight (65p) with is 2 types of cheese dried fruits and nuts on a bagel, light tasty nutritious.. One of my friends had fetuccine with tomatoes, she felt like something light after her long plane flight and it was simple and clean tasting. My other friend tried the burrito with cheese and ham, he thought it a little dull, I will have to add here that he had rather high expectations of a burrito gathered outside Mexico. So nutritious light meals, friendly atmosphere. This is not for a person of an extra large frame, steps up are narrow and the chairs remind one of primary school, my girlfriend and i were happy enough and her husband found room to stretch out his long limbs. Good to have a light healthy food a light, healthy food alternative.
